Dr. Ahmed bin Salem Al-Manzari - WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) of the World Health Organization (WHO) has announced on March 22, 2020 the designation of the Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC) as a WHO Collaborating Center on patient safety policies and strategies.
This designation is very important as it makes SPSC one of the WHO’s arms to promote patient safety in the region and throughout the globe. SPSC as a WHOCC is now one of the few centers worldwide collaborating on strategies & policies for patient safety.
This announcement comes after years of effective collaboration in the field of patient safety between the Center, the World Health Organization and the WHO – EMRO Office.
The areas of collaboration will be within 5 strategic programs approved by WHO and in coordination with the EMRO, that will serve patient safety strategies and policies.
